Hair Care
Summer is here. The hot weather could be wreaking havoc on your strands. Right type of hair maintenance can go a long way in preventing further damage to brittle hair strand. Here’s how you can manage your mane.
- Use a sulfate free shampoo: Sulfates are harsh cleansers and are best reserved for normal to oily scalp. They may damage the cuticle further.
2. Switch to nourishing shampoo for dry scalp.
3. Condition them well: Conditioner lubricates damaged hair shaft. Balancing the hydrophobicity created by the shampoo, thereby reducing the static charge and preventing friction and damage. This makes hair manageable.
4. Lukewarm to cold water should be used for rinsing. Avoid hot water as it causes heat damage to hair.
5. Look for deep conditioners containing keratin hydrolysates. this seals cuticle (outermost covering of hair).
6. Air drying is preferred over blow drying. If blow drying must be done, then avoid doing it more than twice a week.
7. If hair coloring is needed, then it must be done at the roots. Avoid bleaching agents.
8. Frequent trimming of damaged hair should be followed, it leaves your hair looking healthy and shiny.
